Washington State is trying to get Universal Health Care

We have been tracking this for a while now. The insurance commissioner for Washington State has stated on his website that “We must have universal health care in Washington State.” The problem with this plan is that they intend to tax small business and their low income employees to pay for it. The combined tax increase is supposedly going to be a 16% to pay for it. (12% on the small business and 4% on the low income employee.) Just how much do they think this is going to help small business or their employees? There are some other very scary elements to what they are proposing. Basically if only one employee of a business is considered low income, the entire business will now qualify for being on the state funded plan.

Universal Health Care should scare everyone!

Universal health care just doesn’t work any where in the world. When will the politicians finally get the point? Here in Washington State, our insurance commissioner has proposed a Universal Health Care for all residents of the state. Guess how they plan to pay for it? By taxing small business and their employees! As if Washington wasn’t already unfriendly to business!

Here are some points to consider:

1: If the state is now going to be responsible for administering your health benefits, that means they need to create a whole new “agency”, which means a more intrusive and larger, more expensive, inefficient government.

2. Now your health care provider will have to send their billing requests to the state and wait for the state beaurocracy to send them payment.

3. Since the state is now paying the bill, they will determine how much they will pay per service or procedure. Do you think that the providers want the state telling them how much they can charge for their services? The natural response to this will be that the best doctors will leave the state and go where they can make more money. After all, they didn’t go to school all those years to have a limit set on how much money they could make, did they?

4. If you currently do no trust your local or federal government to do the right thing, how can you trust them to take care of the only thing you truly own (your health!) ?

5. Name one thing that the government runs efficiently or on budget? Have you seen how confusing Medicare is? What about Social Security?

6. If the government runs everything related to our health care, the new technologies and innovations in medical equipment and treatments will slow to a crawl. The companies that develope medical technology will now have not as much incentive to come up with new methods for medical treatments since the government will now have limits to what they will pay for this technology since they set all prices for treatments etc. The number one reason that technology continues to progress in all industry is in the pursuit of profits. If you take away the incentive of private business to make a profit, these industries will eventually dry up.
